Question about my Netgear RT-314

Croton

I have the Netgear rt-314 router sharing my earthlink dsl between 2 computers.

do i need to set up an additional firewall? if so, what program is best to use?

and are there any 'tweaks' that i can do to make my router more efficient?

thx

hehe, the rt314 already has a built-in firewall so no need for it. Now read my lips: you gonna hate the firewall so much that you can't stand it. Hehe, so firewall is not a good thing at all. Well, for me at least. 🙂

The netgear doesn't have any firewall. It has access list (some of them already implemented to block netbios on the wan and the lan link and also to prevente anyone from access http or telnet to any of ur server from the outside...)
And yes, u should implement more secure access-list on the router to prevent stuff like ip spoofing etc. Usually, I translate latest addition from ipforward to the netgear syntax.
