Question about my kittens

dabuddha

Lifer
I just got these two kittens last week

http://kittens.sanika.net

Today I noticed that the paw pad (if that makes sense) is bright pink on the right rear foot of the female kitten. Her other one is black like I always thought it was. Her front right paw has a tiny pink streak on the pad as well. It doesn't seem to be painful to her but I'm still worried about heer. Anyone know anything about this?

EDIT: Forgot to ask this also
I have an appointment with the vet this friday but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here. The female cat (Nermal) has been sneezing frequently for the last 3 days or so. The male cat (Dude) has not sneezed at all. How serious could it be? Is there such a thing as a cat cold or could it be something worse?

TIA

Does it really seem that abnormal to you? AFAIK, that's normal. Nearly all kittens have bright-pinkish paws.

I had a cat that had a pink paw pad. I think it's pretty common on cats that have stripes/spots/etc. My cat was a calico...and had i think two pink pads actually.

Is it normal to have one pink pad and one black pad? Tell you the truth, I never noticed it when I first got them last Saturday.

Thanks for the info. It's a load off my mind 🙂

One more question which I forgot to include in the original post. I have an appointment with the vet this friday but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here. The female cat (Nermal) has been sneezing frequently for the last 3 days or so. The male cat (Dude) has not sneezed at all. How serious could it be? Cats get colds too, see to it that she has access to water at all times and she will just sleep through it.

She will be a bit lazier than usual, just like you would be. But she will be just fine. 🙂

For the past three days? Personally, that doesn't sound good.

Though, it's a good thing you're going to the vet soon, as it could be one of four things:

coryza, rhinitis, irritation, chlamydia.

Let us know what you find out,
Good luck.

Your cat probably has alergies. The vet will tell you what it is. Are her eyes watery? That's an indication of alergies. I have 2 cats, one sneezes all the time, especially in the winter. The other never sneezes.

Actually she's so damned hyper it's amazing! She just happens to sneeze frequently.
Her eyes don't seem watery at all.

Oh for christs sake, i have had cats all my life, they get common colds, lasts about as long on them as it does on us, 3-7 days, this is no cause for worry.

If i would be worrying about everything it could possibly be i would have to have a vet living with me and a doctor for myself.

A cat who has a runny nose will sneeze, just like a human, and the most common 99.99% cause is a cold.

Any recent changes in what she gets to eat?

Remember to write that kind of stuff up before going to the vet, it is so easily forgotten.

Does it hurt to be informed of the possibilities? Short answer:

No.

Actually, unless you are willing to go through a vet lexicon, mentioning EVERY reason, then you have not informed him of the possibilities.

I have an itch in my ear, OMG it could be AIDS!

You get my point? There is no need worrying at this point.

Simplified:

I did not mention the reason a cat may get coryza or rhinitis.
Rather, I listed the possibilites as to what may have caused the frequent sneezing (symptom) in the first place.

/that is all.

The pink is normal.

The sneezing is probably allergies (has she been hiding in corners, under the bed, etc?) or a mild respiratory infection. If she's not drooling or seems very lazy, it's probably no big deal. Just mention it when you go to the vet's on friday.

The coloration is normal, and nothing to worry about. Kitties have different colors of skin. The sneezing is more worrisome, have the vet check them over.
