Hello all,

Just wanted to do a quck check to see if my temps are in line with this over clock
running 3.4 gHz idle 42-43c load 51-55 ie encoding video.
Vcore @ 1.46
Vmem @ 2.2 Timings 4-4-4-12

Seemed to hit a wall at 3.4gHz is this common for this processor? Afraid to give it anymore volatage. Suggestions for tightening things up? Thanks
The gear:

MB: GigaByte-S3
CPU: C2D E6400 OC'ed to 3.4gHz
Mem: Crucial Ballistix PC6400 1 gig stick 4-4-4-12 (850)
Cpu cooling: Scythe Ninja RevB 1100P with 120mm yate loon fan
Therm compnd: Artic Silver AS5
NB cooler: Thermaltake
Gfx Card: EVGA 7600GT PCIEX
Power Supply: Enhance P80+ 500W
Case: Lian-Li 7B with two 120mm yate loons

Yup, brick walls at 3400 MHz are very normal.
Both my E6400 & E6300 can attest to that.

Your temps are quite good actually.
I assume you're using CoreTemp or Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool to measure them?

Yes using the core temp 9.4 beta well that's good to know about my temps so core temp says Tcase max is 85c can the chip really take that much heat? I thought I read somewhere 60c is max? So the wall is 3.4gHz with air cooling or can you go higher if your water cooled? So to get into the 4Ghz club you need an E6700?

BTW thanks for the reply

FYI I looked at your OC ram list I talked to a tech at super talent he claims they do not use Micron D9 chips in their ram then again he may not know for sure himself

I'm not familiar with your motherboard, however I assume it is a 965? Those chipsets have small querks with strap timings and ratios and you may actually be more stable at a front side bus frequency far greater than the previous most stable frequency. Are you able to adjust cpu multi's? What is your motherboard fsb frequency max?

My mother board is the gigabyte GA-965P-S3 basiclly a DS3 with non solid caps

I have heard the max FSB is 490-500 for this board

I am going to take a hard look at the Asus 850i Ultra when it becomes available

well, considering I have 2 6300's, and Duvie has a 6300 and a 6400, and all 4 run between 3.4 and 3.5, I would say you are in the park. 1.46 is a little high though. I only use 1.45 and I have 3.465 stable, and 3.43 stable. Temps are rigth with mine also.
