I have a 1.5MB downstream and 384kb upstream dsl modem. My max constant download is 150kbps and my max constant upload is about 26.6kbps. Is there a way to spped this up? I see there is a cable "uncapper" that makes the cable go faster , is there anything that applies to dsl?

Nope, I think this is all handled on the provider's side, or at least hardware in your box, I don't think there is anything u can do...although 384kbits/sec upload should really equate to 40k+/sec bytes.

GC23, you got your Bps and bps all mixed up.

Bps = bytes per sec
bps = bits per sec

Most network speeds are stated in bps (bits per sec).

Use MBps for mega-bytes per sec and mbps for mega-bits per sec. 8 bits = 1 byte.

BTW, you won't get advertise speeds b/c those are theortical. There is always overhead (cell headers for atm, and packet headers for tcpip) so you'll get between 90% to 80% of stated speed.

Also,, I don't clearly understand what your service bandwidth is. I assume you have an adsl modem that can do 1500/384 kbps but what did you sign up for. Your isp can thottle your service through your modem or at the dslam.

Goto http://www.dslreports.com and try their speed test. Let us know what you get. You must live close to CO.

Sometimes, its not your bandwidth that limits your speed but the server you are accessing. At 1500kbps, most servers aren't going to feed you at that speed.
