I want to switch from my free usb modem (Efficient Networks 4060) that came with my bellsouth fastaccess service to an ethernet model (Efficient Networks 5250.) However, when I try and connect my pc to the 5250 I can't connect to my dsl service. Is it possible that this model has a mac address that I must register with BellSouth before it can work with my service? If so, how do I get it? Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure about the mac adress question... are you dynamic? if you are, were you using enternet 300 software or did you use regular dialup networking to connect to the net before?

Does a linksys router box have a mac address? It seems to me that either the ethernet modem or the router box would have to have one.

Gunbuster...thanks so much! I know the mac is 12 digits long, but how do I find out what it is? Should it be on the unit?
