Excuse the simplicity of my post. I'm a server guy by day and I try to sleep by night, so I don't keep up with much networking.
I have a D-Link 713P wireless router. I have the latest firmware (2.60 build 6a). Several times I have been unable to use applications from behind the firewall, even with port forwarding on. My question is about the ports that I forward (the virtual server section). Some application instructions specifically say to foward TCP or UDP port XXXX. How do I indicate in the 713P if the port I want forwarded is UDP or TCP? I see no option. On the DLink website I saw instructions for other devices (604?) that have the option to choose TCP or UDP. Is my 713 too old a device?
In the past, I was never able to get Madden '03 working behind this router. Today it was testing Nullsoft WASTE with a coworker (both at our homes). I can't make a connection. I have the neccesary port forwarded, but I believe it needs UDP and TCP, and I have no way to know if that's being done on the 713P.
If anyone has any insight, I would welcome it. Thanks!
