Question about my cache...*solved, thanks*....

I've been reading about people having their caches small.

I have mine set a little bigger than I need. That way, if I can't send some in for a reason (server down, I go
away, etc.), I won't have a problem.

Is there any problem with this? I mean, I don't wait for all of my cache to fill before I send my WU's in.
Is this wrong?

Thanks for advice.

I recently raised the cache on my XP machines from 10 to 30 because just in case a problem like this happened. As soon as it is straightened out I think I might go up to 50 which would give me roughly a weeks worth on each of them.

JBChance - there are those of us who have been running SETI long enough and who have been burnt enough to make sure that we have enough WUs to satisfy our farms for at least a week (the previous longest outage).

What often happens is that once whatever broke is fixed, millions of machines try to upload/download WUs at the same time and the servers/network just can't handle it. So then it may take you another day to even be able to reliably connect long enough to download replacements. Always good to have a little extra insurance. 🙂

Thanks for the info. I'll make sure too keep mine big enough for a week or so.

In fact, I haven't been able to get any today either. Keeps bumping me off or taking a long time to
download.

I've got some tucked away, though 😉
