I have an Athlon XP 2600+ (barton,166fsb) at 1.9GHz , however, in both 3Dmark03 and Norton systemworks it is detected as a "Athlon" , not "AthlonXP" ....... i upgraded from a 2000+ and it was detected fine before.
I'm on a Soltek nf2 board. (incidentally, the bios detects it as AthlonXP just fine)
new to the forums, thanks for any help in advance !

Aslong as your CPU is running at the right speed, it's fine. Some programs will recognize a processor in a pretty basic form.

Here's a program that will tell you EXACTLY what you are running.

Heh Don't worry about it. My Barton 2500+ @ 3200+ was showing up as a Duron for 3dmark2001SE.
It's one of the fastest Duron's around ;)
