Question about my American Express card...

I got my American Express Cash Rebate card about 6 months ago. It had a 6 month no interest promotion. My statement just closed and my 6th payment is due in mid June. I have to and will be paying it off in full at that time. My question is this though. I always heard that with AMEX cards you HAVE to pay it off in full every month (assuming there are no promotions or anything). Is that true? If so, why does my card show an APR on the bottom if you carry over a balance. What would happen? Do they do something different than other card companies if you don't pay up in full every month?

This doesn't really concern me at all since I pay in full every month (except this card since I had 6 month too - kept the money in my savings like a smart man), but I am a bit confused. Any insight?

Amex offers two kinds of cards

Traditional Charge cards - full balance is due at the end of the month
Credit Cards - minimum payment is due, you can carry over your balance to the next month

You shouldn't assume or rely on AT'ers to determine that for you, call Amex customer service and ask them which of these two cards you have.

I have a Costco Cash Rebate Amex that does not have to be paid in full every month.
