Question about my Acoustic Edge Sound Card under Win2k

Hey guys,

I just bought an acoustic edge sound card and in installing it under win2k, I found it works..but...I find several problems:

1) the max volume, even after pumping up the volume control on winamp, master volume, and my speakers, is loud but not nearly as loud as it used to be with my Monster MX-300.

2) when turning the volume up high without music I hear that incessant hisssss that shouldn't be in good modern day sound cards.

3) I hear an occasional cackle when I play music soft enough to notice it

4) the cackle is VERY obvious whenever I open a any program while music is playing, as if my sound card is eating lots of memory or something...

I've tried downloading the new drivers off philips website but it didn't help..are there new ones or should I be fixing something? Maybe my aureal drivers are stick somewhere in there? I made sure of that too...I think. Or are my expectations of this card just too high (I know I expect at least no cackling in my music!)? Please help if you can guys, I got it online and I hate the hassle of returning stuff. My system is:

1.2 gigahert non-overclocked AMD Thunderbird
20 gigs
Abit KT7A Mobo
Nvidia GEForce 2 GTS
Haugpuagge TV card
384 SDRAM
Philips Acoustic Edge Sound Card

Thanks for any input you guy can give me
