I just got a TBred B 1700+ which I put in an Expox 8rda3+.
Right now it's running at 200x11 (FSBxMult) about [Edit: idle about 50c now] I'm running a pretty slow fan and a large heatsink. I was able to boot up with a knoppix cd just fine, no problems.

Is this normal for this chip? I intended to use it in my server / do anything else linux pc, but now I'm thinking of transferring it to my windows gaming pc.

One other question, the core seemed to have a reddish hue (color) to is as opposed to a silver core on another one I got (to build a server for someone else). I couldn't find any info on that though.

Perfectly normal for a 1700+ t-bred B, they only differ by the core voltage required to get it done :)

I have run across a few poor performers though that would do lot less.

red core color is supposed to be from the purest center part of the silicon, IIRC, and the 1700+s are famous for OCing that much.

what voltage do you have the thing at?

It's just at 1.60v right now. Maybe I'll get a higher speed fan on this and see what it can do... :D
