Is their any game out there that is an Everquest type game but you don't go online to play? One that let's you play with other people on a network? Hmmm, is their a game out there that's like Morrrowind but is Multiplayer? I have friends that come over and we play your usual RTS type games but we also like Morrowind. I'm trying to find something that is as big as Morrowind but can be played with more than 1 person and on a network. Is their anything like that?

Don't you have to go Online for Multiplayer? I looked and I didn't see a local Network option Only?

NWN has a LAN option too. You'll still have to create an Online Multiplayer account though, but once that's done, the LAN option is there.

I would say that most games which have multiplayer capability can be played on both LAN network and Internet network. Both are networks, right?!! The LAN option usually allows both IPX/SPX and TCPIP protocols since they are the most common. I doubt many games would offer LAN only or Internet only options and why should they?

So, BG/BG2, IWD/IWD2, NWN are all fantasy CRPGs based on D&D rules and all multiplayer capable. PORII will only cause you to pull your hair out.

Well, Wynner3 mentioned EverQuest in the initial post - MMORPGs are online only.

Well, Wynner3 seemed to be asking for a non-MMORPG game which is like Everquest... that was pretty clearly implied. Lots of games fall into that category.

Err ... yes, I know, which is why I had already answered him in a post yesterday (reommending NWN). I was replying to the quote of you I specified, as to how there are not many games that offer online gameplay but no LAN. Oh well.

Is that the only game? I tried Everquest and didn't like it that much. I just wish their was a game that was like that but you can play on a Lan (besides NWN). Well I guess I will have to check out Never Winter Nights then. Thank You.

No, not at all ... techwanabe mentioned some more multiplayer-capable RPGs: Baldur's Gate, BG2, Icewind Dale, IWD2 (just released this week). NWN just sprang to my mind since its a very recent one and specially tailored for multiplayer gaming. There are more, too, more than I can name - Diablo and Diablo 2 are also wildly popular and work good in multiplayer. Nox by Westwood is neat, too.
