question about mouse

Some old motherboards may not support usb-connected mouse. Other than that, I don't see any other advantages/disadvantages.
 
In the old days, that could save an IRQ - but with XP that is a non-issue. Unless your mobo supports USB in a DOS boot, then you only have a disadvantage with a USB mouse - you will be mouseless in certain DOS-accessed utilities with Rescue Disks.
