Currently have a 1600x1200 Samsung monitor thats starting to die on me. I would like to stick with the current rez or higher, but I wouldn't be completely against a 1080p for the right price. I did see a 1080p monitor at MC that showed a supported resolution of 1600x1200, so my question is do all 1080p monitors support 16x12 ? I must say that's the first time I have seen this.

Update:
I found the manual for the monitor on Samsung's website, it does show 16x12 as a supported resolution. My question is how will this affect image quality since it's not the monitors optimal setting ?

Anything but native resolution in a LCD has some degradation

16x12 on a 19x10 screen will stretch to fit making it non proportional.
