Question about monitor Driver?

So I just got my new computer and set it up today everything is working fine

however when I went to installl my monitor driver It begins to install and partway through it says "Drivers could not be installed automatically, you will have to install manually" then it minimizes to some other screen I forget which and for some reason it continues installation. After this everything goes normal and when I check the add/remove programs it shows the viewsonic driver installed.

However When i check the monitor properties when i right click on my deskstop it shows a microsoft driver installed that was made in 2001 sometime or somthing?

Did my driver installation not work? Should I check the website for a driver?

Help appreciated

P.S If i dont hav the driver installed my monitor wont be damaged by using it will it?

everything seems to be working fine atm except sometimes i get some banding (i guess its called)or discouled patches(might be because of 6 bit display not quite sure only on certain things tho and its not really an issue

anyways if nothing else WILL IT DAMAGE MY MONITOR IN ANY WAY BY USING IT WITHOUT THE DRIVERS?

ok does the drive have to be signed by microsoft to show up there?

just a question because ibelive it is an unisigned driver

plz help guys!

Very few people bother with monitor drivers.

Unsigned drivers are fine to use, but unless you need drivers, i wouldn't even bother.

it should be fine however with the one i installed right ?

it shows up as microsoft on the thing so im not sure its working but it wont be harming anything?

Monitor Drivers are actully very helpful. They help the os tell the Graphics system what parameters are ok for the monitor to operate. With out them I would not be able to run mine at full resolution and max refresh, they would not show up in the display properties with out it installed. GDM-Fw900
