Question about Memory Timings

Kabob

Lifer
I have a question, if memory is unable to run at a certain speed with certain timings, will it damage the memory or just not work??

I've got 2 sticks running at 235MHz with 3-4-4-8 timings, and I wanted to tighten them up a little bit (it's PC4000 memory, so I may be able to squeeze a little bit more out of them)

Any idea??

It shouldn't damage the memory if you run with the timings too tight, but it could cause the system to become unstable, or possibly not be able to boot. If you want to try it, I suggest running memtest overnight with the tighter timings, and if it passes you should be good to go. Overall, the tighter timings won't likely give you any noticable differance anyway in most cases.
