Question about memory stick readers

I just bought a Lexar 6 in 1 memory card reader. Its one of the ones that reads multiple kinds of media (compact flash, smart media, memory stick, etc). The package only says 'Reader' on it, so am I to assume that it can only read? Or will I be able to use it to write onto the memory card as well? This is probably a stupid question, but i'd rather have a definitive answer to it before I open the package and end up paying some kind of restocking fee at the store if I want to return it. Thanks.

So then i guess its safe to assume that anything labeled just 'Reader' will allow me to write back onto the card as well?
