Question About Medical School Admissions

My premed counselor recommended that I should have my application out by July 4th. Since med school admissions are on a rolling, first-come-first-serve basis, the sooner they get your app, the more chances you will have to be reviewed.

Unfortunatly, my AMCAS essay isn't that good right now, and I think it will take some time for me to work on it. I was thinking about applying (i.e. final AMCAS submission) maybe mid July or late July at the latest.

Is that going to put me at a significant disadvantage?

It depends on what school you are applying to. Some schools are not rolling. If you think yer personal state is not upto par, I say wait and refine it. I doubt 15 days or so will hurt yer chances

Is this for admission this fall, this spring, or next fall?

(Just Curious)

Good luck with your application! I'll be writing the MCAT next summer and applying next fall. (I'm in Ontario, Canada)

I'm applying to all the public schools in Ohio, NYU, Northwestern, Chicago, Cornell, Mount Sinai, Albert Einstein, and a few others.

lol, I finished my AMCAS at the beginning of october but that wasn't a smart idea, I still got in tho. Just get it in asap! The sooner you get it in the better your chances! I would say getting it in by the end of July is a good idea.
