Question, About Maybe Starting an MIRC Server.

hey, yea, ive used mirc for years, and year, and i was just wondering about if anandtech had any sort of mirc server that we can gather around in, and share our thoughts, ideas, and well everything else about eletronics, and etc. iam sure it would be very much usefull.

Well just a thought. maybe you already have one set up, and i just dont know about it yet.

actually, you'd be looking to start an IRC server. MiRC is just a chat client used to "browse" an IRC server.

technicly it would be IRCD server, that we would use a program like mirc to ie, talk/chat on, with some sort of irc shell i think¿

Technically, it would be an IRC server. "ircd" is the name of a Unix IRC server daemon. The actual service is called "IRC".

if there is an irc server that anandtech uses currently, or if somone should create one, that we can use.

True, but I feel that it's important to know the proper name of this service. As d33pt mentioned, terms like "Internet Explorer server" sound incredibly ignorant.

In answer to this question, I don't think that AnandTech has an official IRC server, but it should be very easy to start one, especially on Windows with the popular shareware IRCPlus sotware.

There is a team anandtech channel with a private server i believe. I've never been there though...

This is very interesting news to me. I've been an AT member for awhile now and this is the first I'm hearing about this! Oh wait...is this one of those things that only "the cool people" i.e. the college crowd that all goes to school together knows about?

The one I mentioned was basically the team anandtech room. For DC members. But there are plenty of non-members going in there
