Forgive me if this seems like a really simple proposition I'm about to make since I'm unclear as to where the actual multiplier is set. I'm under the impression that, like those lovely programmable integrated circuits (PICs) I play with, the information you "set" on the chip stays "set" unless you change it. So, when you pop a 700 MHz Duron into a K7T Pro2-A with the L1 bridges connected, and set the multiplier successfully to 8x instead of 7x...
...shouldn't I be able to then shut the system down, take the processor out, pop it in another motherboard (like the regular K7T Pro)and have it POST at 800 MHz instead of 700 MHz?
This question rests on whether or not the motherboard is simply used to SET the multiplier on the processor, or whether the motherboard (dynamically) determines it along with the FSB. Again, people might be reading this and saying "Good god, what a stupid question!", but I'd really like some clarification rather than pulling the Duron 650 from my dad's system and trying that trick with my K7T Pro2-A, heh.
