Question about mail server

Hello all, Would like to know if I set up a mail server would it help in managing my e mail on 4 differant computers in my house.

Thanks

Woody

Um... that's awfully vague. When you say "manage," what is it you hope to accomplish? What kind of net connection do have? How many email accounts are you talking about? Do you have a static or dynamic IP? What OS are you planning to use? I could go on, but I think you get the idea...

There is a lot of shareware email sever program that are not expensive. Log to few download sites search for email server. You will find some thing that will suit you.

You can down load few and try before you decide.

Example: ArGoSoft Mail Server Pro 1.8.1.1

Ok manage meaning would like all my email from other isp's to be available on every computer I have in the house. Can do that now but they are not synchronized. Have DSL connection with dynamic IP

Would be run on windows xp

Thanks

I just use outlooks option of leaving the mail on the server until it's deleted. It downloads the emails to the computers as long as it has not been deleted already.

Hmm... I don't use Windows enough for this kind of thing, unfortunately. Using *NIX you could, with some patience, set up a Fetchmail+IMAP+MTA machine that would handle your needs nicely. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

edit: typo
