Question about Lost

Howdy folks, I'm a fairly big Lost fan and I'm just wondering if anyone knows what ever happened to the big monster from the first season that ate the pilot and smashed down trees and stuff? I own the first season on DVD and we are nearing the end of the second season where I live (so please no spoilers about the finale!). I have missed a couple of episodes this season and I'm just wondering if there has been any mention of it that maybe I've missed? It kind of bugs me that this guy has been pretty much ignored since about half way through season 1 with seemingly no explanation.
 
If you're nearing the end of the second season and you've asked... you must have slept through a bunch of it.

The encounter the monster while bringing the dynamite to blow the hatch.

Mr. Eko SEES the monster and it is SHOWN somewhere around the 10th episode of season 2.



However, they have yet to elaborate on it very well and it would be a large blunder to ignore a plot point that was at the front of people's minds for the first few episodes of the season.

 
Yeah I remember the monster encounter when they were getting the dynamite (first season, BTW) but I must have missed the episode when Mr Eko sees the monster. I may have missed more episodes than I remember 🙁 I'll have to get the DVDs when they come out.
 
Yea, I'm a big Lost fan too, and I don't remeber seeing or hearing anything of the monster thing either, only in season 1.
 
The writers said they will focus on the monster in Season 3 and supposedly the monster is in season 2, but not in the shape that we expected.

I have no idea what that means.

yeah, that is the monster. and if you saw the forums, you'd see that the monster contained images of the individual's past, iw it's a physiical representation that 'their past has come to haunt them' or that they needed to face their past. Eko wasn't afraid of his past as he had no choice, hence him being able to stare it down.

That's my guess. There certainly isn't some big monster like a dragon or whatever...
