I've just installed the drive and have already burned a few discs, so everything seems to be working fine, the problem is the highest WRITE SPEED I can select is 24X (this is with the Nero Software that was included with the drive) ... this is odd as its supposed to be a 32X burner right? Any help of info would be greatly appreciated :)

If your media is limited to 24X then, technically, you can't go above that speed. However, I've been able to burn 16X CD-Rs at 24X. But I would check your media to make sure that it's rated at 32X. Hope this helps.

Are you guys saying that Nero is detecting the type of media and limiting his selection to 24x? I don't think so.

Either it's not truly a 32x drive, or the version of Nero that shipped with the drive does not recognize 32x burning speed.

I am not familiar with 32x drives and my use of Nero is not frequent, but I don't see how it could be anything other than one of those two options.

I have the 24x Liteon and I have that same problem with Nero. It's a sporadic problem; sometimes Nero detects upto 24x sometimes only upto 16x. Try the Nero drivespeed utility and set 32x manually.

Rio, it is Nero/The drive...

I have a 24x liteon and sometimes it burns at 24x, sometimes at 20x...

Just because it says it's a 32x drive doesn't mean all media will be capable of burning at that speed.

Paulson,

Just about anyone who has owned a cd burner knows that not all brands of cd's work the same in all burners.

Take a step back for a second - he said that it wouldn't let him SELECT 32x. There's virtually no way that Nero is detecting the brand of media and determining what his maximum burn speed should be. So your point can't be relevant.

Once again - if he believes he has a 32x burner, and Nero won't let him select 32x as a burn speed option, the problem is either with the burner or the software (Nero).

Think about it for a second, and I think you'll see the point.
