question about Linksys router 3 year warranty

theres a 3 year warranty label on the box.so if something goes wrong who do i contact and get a replacement?

I'm sorry if this sounds sarcastic, but it is.. 😉

The box says Linksys.
The router says Linksys.
The phone number on the warranty form and on the router manual says Linksys.
Maybe you should call Microsoft? 😛

(Seriously, call Linksys.)

i know you should call linksyss but how do they know if the router is before 3 years or not? since there is no warranty form to fill out in the box?

If you didn't send in a registration card then they may go by the data it was manufactured. Or perhaps they keep track of it via the store your purchased it from.

so, i dont have to send them any extra money or anything for the 3 year warranty, if it brokes i can just give them a simple call?

Yes. You can also call them for free or talk to an online rep via their website at no cost to you to find out from an official source.

Linksys requires a proof of purchase (sales receipt) for all RMA's. Your 3 year warranty also starts from the date on the sales receipt.

I'm positive. I just RMA'ed a WRT54G a few days ago.

what's wrong with your router? you kept your reciept all this time? when did you first purchase this router? seriously, do you really think most people would hold on to the reicept?

ROFL 😛

1) It's not 'my' router per se since it belongs to a customer of mine. It suddenly failed to power on.
2) No, but my Quickbooks POS has a database and I was able to reprint the receipt from Jan. 2005
3) I think a lot of people probably hold on to their receipts since Linksys is not the only company that requires a receipt for RMA purposes. Those that don't.....well....this is one of the benefits of buying from a local 'mom-n-pop' computer shop that maintains a customer history. 🙂

This is one of the side benefits of purchasing stuff on-line. The dealer can very often provide a copy of the purchase papers. If this was B&M, you probably couldn't do that.

If you purchased by credit card, that could allow tracing the transaction as well.
