For those with accounts, do you have active communications on that site with your connections?
I have had an account and I only use it for adding them as "connections". I don't see many of my connections making any communication or posting anything. Is it the same case for you?

Active communication, new contacts and poaching/recruitment. Facebook should have a decent database for recruitment soon. We'll see how that goes.

I'm not what you'd call an "active" member. I check every once and a while for message and connection requests, and to update my profile with skills and work experience. It seems like one of those things that I should have as a professional.

Yes. LinkedIn should be used by professionals in technical fields. It's a great professional networking site.

I'm on it, but have done almost nothing with it. I'm slowly putting my profile together though.

LinkedIn sucks. I have an account with them that I opened a few years ago, but I maybe log in like once a year.

what is exactly going to happen on this site, random offers for dream jobs are just going to come in unexpected because i have a profile? won't it eventually just all be spam?

I'm got my new job from one of their emails on jobs you may be interested in posts... pretty good upgrade in jobs for me also and the people are a lot better to work with!

i've only had 1 active conversation with a former colleague when i was looking for work. it was the only way i had to contact the person.

other than that i get connection requests from other former colleagues and they help with networking when looking for work.

and other than that, the rest of the communications i get are from recruiters with job openings.

Same. Mostly using it as an online CV, not as a social network.
