Question about lifting.

So when you lift for a day you're supposed to give your muscles a day to recover--ok. But what if after that day your muscles are still way sore? Should you just go lift again? Or should you wait another day so that they can recover some more?

It's best to train each body part or muscle group once a week.

So like...

Mon: Chest and tris

Wed: Back and bis

Fri: legs and calves

Yes. They are sore because you are out of shape. After a few weeks of it, you won't feel the soreness after a day of rest. And the day of rest is only so you don't get burn out.

You should mix it up, Monday = biceps/triceps, tuesday=deltoids/pectorals, wednesday=thighs/hamstrings, etc..

Edit: damn you amused, you can die in a fire

Opinion varies on this. If you go to the gym and do a light workout, you may actually feel less sore afterwards than you do now.

Most people would agree that you should wait until most of the soreness is gone before attempting another full/heavy workout, though. Let your body heal up and you'll likely get a much better workout than if you force yourself to go back while you're still hurting.
