question about Lego

I have a computer case I built out of Lego and I need to find a way to permanently keep the pieces together. It is very fragile and tends to fall apart if moved.

The only thing I can think of is super glue, but I imagine that would get expensive.

The case is approx. 18"x18"x16" and somewhere in the area of 7,000 pieces.


Any ideas?

Just an idea that hasn't been tested that I know of:


Maybe try shellacking it? Or a roll of clear psudo-laminate plastic stuff (to make papers laminated w/o the maching) maybe that would hold the sides together.

plastic modelling cement should work...superglue is likely to cloud the plastic and leave a white film.

Spray adhesive. Although, you may want to remove your components first...

And remember, when it comes to gluing plastics, a little bit of glue goes a long way. In most cases, using excessive glue will actually weaken the bond as it's not just the glue curing that adheres the plastic, it actually chemically fuses the plastic together.

I've no idea about keeping it glued together, but definitely post some pics. Sounds like a very cool idea. :thumbsup:

Plastructs plastic weld is what I used in the past. This stuff works very well and literally melts the bricks together with out discoloring them. You just brush it along the joints and it flows in. Check your local hobby shop.

I hadn't thought about super glue clouding the blocks. Spray adhesive sounds like a good idea, but would that be strong enough?

This things weighs about 25 pounds.

spray adhesive is a HORRIBLE idea. it will NOT work. you will have to dissassemble and glue the blocks togther PERIOD.

Spray adhesive will just make a mess. Locate a glue that welds the plastic blocks together.

All of the drive mounts are just built very thick and built into the sides of the case where possible so they don't move around. I used technic pieces with pre-cut holes and screws fit perfectly. All of the motherboard mounts are also screwed directly into lego pieces and attached to the baseboard.

Hmm. I bet with it being of such thick plastic, it'd be pretty quiet?
