Question about LEDs?

I'm looking to backlight the door on my chieftec case and I need some input on whether my plan will work or not before I go buy the parts.

Here's what I want to do:
wire 6 blue LEDs in serial
connect the whole thing to a either a rocker or a toggle switch
then connect all of that to the 5V line of a Molex connector
and I want to do it for under $15

will I need to add a resistor or will this depend on the total resistance of the LEDs wired in serial?
How much total resistance should I have. If I do need a resistor should I just put one on the end of the LED strip where it connects to the switch or do i need to add one between each LED?
Is this idea really as simple as I picture it or is there something I'm not considering?
Thanks
