Question about laptop video cards

Indus

Lifer
I'm looking to buy a laptop with a bd-rom and an hdmi out.

Will I be able to play blu-ray discs from the laptop onto a tv with an hdmi cable for both video and sound or do I need something else or a special kind of video card?

Looking to buy 1 soon so let me know please.

Currently I have my eyes on either:

a. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=M975-17005

b. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...ku=M975-170051

c. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=S170-16415

Any suggestions in between these 3?

Basically trying for dual core with turbo boost, win 7, dedicated card, blu-ray and hopefully 500 gb hd.

A most likely can not play blu-ray content. B most likely will (it has integrated HD 3200-graphics, which afaik supports blu-ray playback) and C will surely work.

You've picked core 2 duo's and a AMD athlon though, those don't have turbo-boost. I didn't check if the have blu-ray and/or a hdmi-port, which of course are quite necesary 😛

General rule of thumb is, that any nvidia or amd-card graphics will suport blu-ray playback, but intel integrated graphics won't, save for the newest cpu's with onboard igp.
