Question about laptop repair cost?

how much would it cost to have the psu on a laptop repaired. At least thats what I think needs to be repaired. Batter holds a charge but the the plug from the AC cord has to be in a certain position or else it won't transfer power. At first I thought it was the cord but I tried on another laptop and it worked fine. I then tried the other laptops cord on the troubled laptop and the same issue so I know its the AC receptor. I dunno if you can fix just that part or what so that's what I'm asking the cost of repair for. btw- Its a Toshiba laptop about 3 years old if that makes a difference.

Thanks

The problem is a broken solder joint on the power connector on the laptop's mainboard. I see it all the time. It may or may not need a new connector.

I usually end up charging my customers $120-180 for labor and $20-30 for the part if needed. That's $60/hr. and it takes quite a while to disassemble the laptop to get the mainboard out and then resolder or solder a new connector on.

If you are good at taking things apart and putting them back together and have a friend who can solder or can solder yourself then you can fix it yourself. It is not hard, just time consuming and requires some meticulous work. If you need a new jack then you can go here:

I have ordered from them and they are fine to order from....though I don't know about returns.

If you do decide to do it yourself and need some help with the disassembly, PM me and I can help guide you if you can take pictures.
