Question about Kyro II

Does Kyro II (Hercules 3D Prophet 4500) support Glide?
I cannot make a decision between VooDoo5 5500 and Hercules 3D Prophet 4500, which one I should get? I will keep this video card for more than 6 months (maybe one year), and I also play old PC games, like AOE. So I need some suggestions please. Every reply would be very appreciated. Thanks.

No, only Voodoo graphics cards are supporting GLIDE. It's a proprietary of 3Dfx (or at least of what's left of). Kyro II is made by STM if I remember... So, no luck. However, I would go for a 3D Prophet 4500 because the Voodoo^5 5500 is now officially unsupported 'cause nVidia bought all of 3Dfx EXCEPT the technical support (they are bright, aren't they?). However, I don't know if Hercules or STM will offer a good driver support for the Kyro II... You should also consider a GeForce2 MX/MX400 because nVidia are great for their driver support. (Well, that's my opinion 🙂)

Oh, by the way, you can always try to find a GLIDE Wrapper (or "emulator&quot😉 on the Net. It emulates the GLIDE API via DirectX or OpenGL. It takes some cpu/gfx overhead, so the game will be slower, but at least it'll make run your old games with a current video card.

If you're going to keep the card for a while, and it is between the 4500 and the V5 - I'd go Kyro if you can wait for another month.

My 2 cents...
