question about ip address???!!!

if i have someone's ip address, is it possible to locate where they at??? if so, what tools or search can i use???

You should be able to pick up general location. If it's an office you may even be able to pick up the exact address. Just google for sites that allow IP registrar lookups.

You can get a rough estimate, usually it'll be a good two or three cities off, though.

Like for me it says Pottervile, which is a good 40 minutes away. Before that it would say Charlotte, which was closer, but I think a few local hops changed when my ISP worked on the lines.

Not if they are behind a network/firewall and you know their IP in there. If they just have an Ip assigned by their ISP then you can.

it depends if they are home or not. like if a person goes out to dinner their ip doesnt change to the restaurants ip unless of course they connect with their comp from the restaurant.

tracert can kind of give you a general location, I used it on my host at 1&1 goes over 16 hops and kinda gives me an idea where my site is hosted at.
