Can PAT be used on thie motherboard? What is the difference between PAT enabled and not enabled in real world use?

Thanks.

No, you can't trick an Intel 865 motherboard into having PAT enabled. Other manufacturers have found out how to do this and have released BIOSes that will allow it to be done but Intel will not hurt their own bottom line by enabling this on their lower-end chipset.

I think most benchmarks show around a 3-4% improvement with PAT enabled, that's it.

No.

You need a BIOS hack to do it. Companies like Asus and Abit are willing to incurr Intel's wrath and do it. There's no way Intel is going to write a BIOS for their low end board so it steals sales away from their top end Canterwood boards. Rumor has it that the latest 865 chipsets have been neutered anyway so they can't be BIOS-tricked into running PAT.
