question about insurance ...

Hello,

the rear window of my grandpa's car got hit with something and broke while standing in high window ...

if we call insurance company about that ... will they raise our fee or no ? (my mom keeps telling that ;) )

thx...

It's not worth calling your insurance company, as it ismore than likely less to replace the window than it would be to pay your deductable.

Insurance companies will not generally raise your rates for autoglass claims. They are more concerned with collision and injury claims that run into thousands of dollars. Most big insurance companies do not administrate their own autoglass claims and are handled by an outside network vendor. The best way to find out is to just call your insurance company and ask them. They will not penilize you for just asking.

I've also heard that a lot of the bigger insurance companies won't even make you pay your deductible to get a windshield replaced. I think it has to be in your policy, though.

You have to have comprehensive coverage. Some policies do wave deductables on windshields but will apply the deductble to any of the other glass in the car. Depends on the carrier. Also, with many policies, you can buy zero deductable autoglass coverage.
