Question about installing windows on a partition...

First off, i have a 160GB hdd (not partitioned) , i have a 320GB with three partitions. I currently have windows xp installed on the 160GB, and it looks like i'll have to replace my 160GB hdd.

I'm planning on installing windows on one of my partitions for my 320GB hdd. I split into 149, 108, and 40GB . Im planning on doing a fresh install on the 40GB partition. My main question is, will the files in the 108GB, and 140GB partion be affected in anyway?? Thanks in advance..

No, so long as you format (if you do) and install them in the right place. Logically, they are different drives...

nope. the partitions are created by windows, but are not regulated by windows. i split my 80 into two partitions; a 20 for windows and the other 60 (to be more exact, 54.5) for my docs. whenever i install windows, i just format C, but my E is untouched and like so, i can reinstall windows very quickly. to make a long story short, your other partitions won't be touched or affected in any way.

same setup I use..
300gb drive with a 30 for the OS..
rest is storage works great makes reformating painless
