Question About Installing Vista

Is it better to do a clean install (re-formating the hard drive then installing the OS) or just upgrading from XP, or does it even matter?

I have been told that it is better to do a clean install of Vista vs an upgrade from XP. I have done both and both systems seem to work perfectly fine.

I've had some problems before since the user directories are in different places. Programs start acting retarded and forget where stuff is stored.

Vista --> C:\users
XP --> C:\Documents and Settings

Don't do the in-place upgrade. I've done it 3 times, 3 times I have revisited and re-did the install as a fresh install.

The in place does work, but ultimately you won't be happy with the install.
