Question about installing linux on Thinkpad T43

Hi
I have a Windows setup already. 180gb partition. I was going to free up about 20gb using partition magic and then using that for my Linux install. Is this okay or should I just re-install Windows and go from there?

Thanks

Make a backup before doing it. Some people have had issues with PM. I haven't used it in YEARS. 😛

Should work though.

Any linux distro that is current will allow you to resize your Windows partition during the install. no need to use PM to do this.

Yep - Just choose the option that allows you manually configure the disks/partitions and you should be able to do it without PM. I've read many people recommend a defrag prior to doing it but I'm not sure if it's necessary.

I did the defrag first, (multiple) times, because I had so little space on my TP21. Of course you shouldn't have *that* issue!
