Have you checked out the fine print on the back of the box? It says on there that they will only be hosting a game server till September of 2003. My question is, is this import and significant, or is it just for the people that use the developers hosting services? You can make your own servers for the game can't you?

I'm just worried that I'm going to buy a $50 game, and then not have any way to play it in a year.

I think most of the servers are people's own servers. They'd shoot themselves in the foot worse than releasing a patch for a game that hadn't been released yet if they didn't allow people to make their own servers.

Wow, I never seen that before. I wouldn't worry, and it's a year away, but I do like the EA servers now. There's a lot of them that are FAST and lotsa players. Since the game just came out, there's probably a lot of crappy cable and dsl servers now.

it's like madden 2003. they will stop supporting online play for that after a year. EA is really gay.

Is that just for the developer hosted servers? Do they still allow privately run servers?

Yeah, I saw that on the way home, too. Not a problem though, everyone else will obviously have servers up. It requires a cd key to play online right?

I'm pretty sure its just the EA servers out there that will be taken down next year. I don't see how they could prevent people from hosting their own servers. That would pretty much destroy EA in the world of online gaming. No one would ever buy from them again if they did that.
