Hey, I saw this at Goodwill and wanted to buy it because it was only 13 bucks. I didn't buy it yet because I don't know if I could use it or not. I couldn't find the original adapter for it. On the bottom, it says that the output is 13VDC and 1A. I found an adapter that has output of 13VDC and 1.25A. I plugged it in and the power button was green. However, the weird thing is that I keep pressing on the button but it wouldn't turn off or anything. Is this a normal thing?

The second thing is that it accepts 2 parallel connections (1 to the computer and 1 to the printer) and 1 USB connection. I want to know if I use the USB cable, do I still need to use the parallel cables?

Also, do I need HP software to be able to scan? or should WinXP already have that?

thx for the help

1) are you sure the button was a power button and not a scan button? I've seen scanners without a power button.

2) you can use just USB

I am sure that is a power button. Because it is all the way to the left, seperate from the other buttons and also have the circle with the line in the middle.

Also, will the adapter be bad for the scanner? Since the amps is a little bit different.
