Question about history

I've been researching the topics for my final for quite some time now but havn't really found much on western cultural decline between WWI and II. I would i have thought there was growth with the huge media explosion in the US. What are they talking about when the they talk about the cultural decline of the west? 😕 The text say nothing, and the notes i have don't seem to have much.

My guess would be the decline of old, original, historic, etc. values. With the advancement of technology, people moving to cities, greater international involvement, etc. most of that stuff went kaput. Examples - family farms no longer, commute to work, groth of capitalism, blah blah

Write about corruption in teh government, racis1m, the rich discriminating between teh poor, etc. Read Gatsby, Grapes of Wrath, that book about the meatpacking industry, etc.

What "class" assumes there was a cultural decline in those years? WWII started for many reasons but culture isn't near the top of the list. In fact the US (major western power) exploded culturally in the 1920's. What "culture" are you referring to exactly? (prohibition, nationalism, p0rn?)

For the sake of arguement assume what FleshLight posted about was true. In that case the social issues were just becoming more and more well known. Children working and "The Jungle"'s issues had existed for years.

Sweet, sounds like we have a history buff on our hands 🙂 This is history 1302 (after reconstruction) I had thought culture had exploded during those times. In the essay topic the type of cultural decline is undefined.

So far i have been writing about the fall of society due to a failing economy in many places. Also about the receding imperalistic advancement that France/Britain/US underwent. So confused.

The traditional role of the Cathloc church may be another avenue to look at with its connections to major western powers. The seeds of the Nazi party are beyond the scope of the question but offer some great examples. (nationalism, German intellectuals of the time, perceived Marxism vs Facism choice are just a few)

Western culture has always been decadent and immoral compared with rest of the world. The ancient Greeks were some of the most perverse people in their day. Massive orgies of men and women, no self control, no human dignity. The same could be said as the Roman Empire collapsed. Weimar Germany of the 20s and 30s was the same. There was extreme decadent behavior in Germany at that time and that gave rise to the Nazis who promised to cut back on this type of outrageous behavior. The point is that extreme decadent behavior coupled with immorality and a population that moves away from traditional family always leads to the concentration camps. Or death and destruction.
