question about hercules kyro II startup logo

hi...
i have win98 and win2k on my system. When i boot up using win2k, i get icons on the screen (mycomputer, recycling bin, ie) and the hourglass becomes an arrow. I then go ahead and click on my enternet icon to access my dsl connection, but although i open it, it does not open. About 1 minute goes by and then the hercules logo comes on in the middle of the screen. After it dissappears, voila, the enternet application opens. The interesting part is that when i use win98, the hercules logo loads up as the icons are appearing, so it doesn't take too long for me to be able to open the enternet application. This is not the case with win2k, however. I downloaded a startup control panel utility with win2k and i've disabled certain appls... this is what remais checked though:

name ---------------------------path
=========================================
country selection ---------- pctptt.exe
PMXinit -----------------------c: \winnt\system32\PMXinit.exe (is it need at startup?)
synchronization manager----- mobsync.exe/logon
system tray -------------- SysTray.exe

any tips on why the hercules logo takes so long to load up on win2k?

i remember there being a similar post about this, although im not sure if it was in the video forums or somewhere else. I also believe that you could turn off the option in the drivers menu by going to display properties>settings>advanced

If you'd like to disable the logo all together...right click > display properties > Display > Click on Support Centre... There should be a boxed checked on the first page...uncheck and problem solved....hopefully.

This is more of a clearification of jobberd's statement 😉

thanks...got rid of the startup logo but same slowdown...
i see an icon loading up on the task tray about network...that's what messing up the system..
oh well
thanks for the tips, though
🙂
