Question about Heatware Feedback

I just completed selling a few items here. I'm getting some decent heat going. I am just curious about one thing. Why do some members say that Ebay feedback doesn't count as much as heat? Why do people say that Ebay is easier to fake than Heat? Why is heatware more acceptable? It seems to me that Heat is just as easy or easier to fake. At least with Ebay, you have to actually have a transaction with that person to leave them feedback.

Am I missing something or not understanding something? Just curious. Thanks.

That and Heatware is used mainly by serious forum traders who don't always trade with the same restrictions as Ebay. For example, if a person's Heatware feedback is high enough, and they've got positive feedback from the same traders I've dealt with before, I don't have a problem at all with cross-trades (I'll ship the item before the payment or trade arrives).

I'd never do that on Ebay, regardless of the amount of Ebay feedback. It basically comes down to the fact that everyone and their brother uses Ebay, but Heatware is mainly just us serious forum traders.

Because people on ebay will bid on low-amount items (recipies and crap like that) for mere pennies to build up feedback, then screw people by making them think that they have a couple hundred decent positives... that took them no more than 5 bucks to acheive.

Also, you can't leave feedback for ebay from trades done here, ebay doesn't care about trades done here and ebay feedback won't help if something goes wrong.

With heatware, you can find most of the people who had left someone heat already and ask them for an address or phone number or more info if you get screwed.... with ebay.. fat chance.

im heatware noob, but arent most heatware people members of some online community? so like if i dont know someone via AT FS/FT, there should be people in the other community that can vouch. ebay is very easy to be anonymous.

My point is, heatware is as easy or easier to have someone leave you fake feedback just to build up your rep. You can still contact other members on Ebay about a seller just like you can with Heat. It is still a measure of someone's reliability for trading. I'm just confused why Heatware has more has more leverage in trading and/or buying. I don't have a problem with it. I just want to know the reason so I can know what to look for when trading/buying/selling here.

I get what your saying...it seems to me heatware is a TON easier to fake then any ebay refs especially if you just went by the numbers...if u go by actual types in refs however thats a diff story...
I think the value of heatware is that people can put in a true description of what went good/bad/etc unlike ebay with just has "A+++++++ Seller/Buyer!!!!"
The prob with heat is that i've seen guys with 50+ refs but all from newish people and then they swing that 50 around like their all high and mighty and demand u ship first. I think that crap has gotten out of hand...when u start demanding that I ship first please have a REALLY valid reason...not just you have 50 heat thus you are entitled to it...cause i'll look at it and read "I gave him a positive but he had me ship first and then it took a few days for me to get payment"...i wish there would be a better 1-6 rating system (1/2=poor 3/4=neutral 4/5=good) for that very reason. When i see people demanding it and not asking first i will NEVER deal with that person just cause its just appaling that anyone can be that rude and hopeully people are remebering to type that into reviews if people make them ship first cause they are n00bs.

I see what you're saying. I've had people tell me that Ebay feedback means nothing here. I just don't think that should be. When I buy on Ebay, I NEVER just look at their number. I look at the feedback itself. If they have a negative, I want to know why, what product it was, and what the circumsatnces were. Especially because you have too many sellers that wait until the buyer leaves feedback before they leave some for the buyers. Then, if the seller screws the buyer and gets negative feedback, the seller then leaves retaliatory feedback. Same thing with Heatware.
