Question about headphone jack on front of case.

I'm getting the Antec Super Lanboy case - pics

I have an older SB Live! Value card, and was wondering if I'd be able to, and how to re-route the headphone jack from the card to the front of this case. And if this will be at the cost of any sound quality etc.

Edit - Also, the back of my card has 4 plugs total. The green one is for the speakers, and I believe the headphones too. If I leave my speakers plugged in in the back, will the sound output only to my headphones if I have them plugged in the front? And will the sound revert back to my speakers when I unplug the headphones? Or how will that work out without having to reach around the back and switch things out everytime?

Thanks in advance =)

Does the card have FP (front panel) audio support?

If it does, then you would hook up the wire from the FP headphone jack to a header on the SB Live card and go from there.

Dig up or download your SB Live's user manual.

If my card does have FP audio support, how does that work when speakers are connected to the conventional plug on the back of the card AND having headphones connected to the front panel at the same time? Does one over-ride the other, or do they both play with equal clarity/etc. at the same time?

Without checking, I would assume they both play. It just seems like that would be common sense from a design perspective.

I have some pins on my Live card that says SPDIF output on it. Would this have anything to do with hooking up the frontal headphone jack on my case? It's an Antec Super Lanboy case if that helps any.

Really wanna get this thing working. I've looked through the entire manual for my card and I don't see any mention of the connection, but I'm nto assuming automatically that it means it won't work. (maybe I should =P)

the sound blaster live! card does not have the connectors for front headphone jacks. not many sound cards do anyways.

Booooo =( I believe my motherboard might. Has the Nforce 2 chipest, the MCP, not the one with soundstorm. Would that be tricky to keep my onboard sound disabled, using my SB Live, but still connect the headphone via the connector on the motherboard? Not sure how I'd go about doing that, or if I'd have to have both sound devices running simultaneously.

SPDIF out is digital audio output. It stands for Sony/Phillips Digital InterFace. With the right connections, you could hook up the audio to a home theater/stereo receiver, but it won't drive headphones. 🙁

Or maybe I should just spring for this - from Hot Deals, deal on Audigy 2ZS IF this one has the header of course.

yeah, that mb would work. however, if you enable onboard audio, you would have to disable the sblive. I woudl personally just stick with onbaord audio, as it isn't really THAT detrimental to CPU usage, and with PC speakers, you won't really notice the lost in audio quality. But if you prefer the sbline, you can also get a Y splitter for like a dollar that should provide you with an extra head to reroute to the front.
