Question about having two HD one on top of the other.

Hello !
I just received my 60 GB 7200 rpm 120 GXP HD from Ncix.com and I just want to know if its bad or if it doesn't matter to have two HD put together. My primary HD now is a 30 GB 75 GXP that always ran great. On the two HD, there are little holes and it sais "Do not cover". Does that mean I have to let a space between the two HD ?

Thanks !

Thor

if at all possible put a space between the two harddrive IBM drives are known to run hot (some even contribute their failure rate to it) the space is really needed b/c these are 7200RPM drive which run pretty hot...

Here is what I did. Because there is only ONE drive space between the floppy and the 30 GB 75 GXP, I put the new HD just under my CD-RW drive. Of course, the drive is left loose and I also put a piece of paper below the drive for not to touch the case !

This is an temporary solution before I buy my new system ! 😉
Man, there was so much dusk in the case... need to clean up things !

Btw.: Dono why spiders like computer cases so much... that is one thing I could never come up with any serious answer 😉

I gather you put in a 5.25" bay under the CD drive - and loose. Why not get some adapter rails and mount it? You could also mount a drive cooler under it or in place of the front panel blank. It should work, but I would like to see a little air flow under and over the HDD.
