I'm considering getting just the MCE version #1042 for $65... Since I've read that hauppauge software is crap.
Will I be able to record (encode?) shows from cable in mpeg2 without the software in the model # 1045 version? Or do I have to have Sagetv, beyondtv, wintv2000, or MCE software to record to mpeg2?
I don't need a tivo-like system...I just want to record some football games and "Caliente" on Saturdays, I don't need a tv scheduler-type thing...I can start the recording manually.
Do I still need to buy some software like sagetv etc. to encode???
Also is the remote that comes with the 1045 worth it?
Also, is Titan tv free and does that work good as a scheduler?
