Question about Halo 2

I am new to this who XBOX scene, so pardon me if I ask a few silly questions.

I was playing multiplayer in Halo 2 yesterday and a couple of my friends decide to leave. I was hoping to add a couple of bots from the system and play against them. To my surprise, I could not find any option to add bots which play by themselves.

Is it required that people have to play in the multiplayer option? Is there any way to add bots which play by themselves?

Enlighten me.

At any rate.... No, there are no bots in Halo 2.
