Question about GPS devices

Do most typical GPS units like a Garmin Nuvi or TomTom have the ability to plug in coordinates instead of merely street addresses, names, etc?

In other words, lets say I wanted to use Google Earth to obtain coordinates for an obscure location and then get step by step directions. Could I do this with most current GPS devices?

Can't say about all the makes out there, but the Garmin units do allow it.

Thanks, do you know off-hand what exact numbers it asks you for? (ie. longitude, latitude, etc)

You have a choice of either:

h ddd mmm ss.s
h ddd mm.mmmm
h ddd.ddddd

Access thru Where To, (then the down arrow until you get to) Coordinates
