question about gma 500 on netbook

my father just gave me his netbook since he never uses it. gpu-z only shows 8mb of system ram being used for video on the gma 500 so how can I have more? does it automatically use more than 8mb if needed or is there some setting I need to adjust? I did not see anything in the bios for adjusting ram usage for video like I typically see with integrated.

I dont think there were any adjustments in the asus EE I bought for the wife, ill check when I get home.
 
I can adjust it in my Acer aspire AO751h.

I specifically picked that netbook with gpu because it can accelerate 1080p if you get the drivers set up right.
 
are you adjusting it in the bios or the video card drivers? in my drivers info it says 64mb to 253mb is available but there is no actual adjustment. from what I can gather it uses 8mb as standard but dynamically uses up to 253mb.
