Question about GeForce GTX 980

I was curious as to whether or not a Core i5-4590 would be powerful enough to feed a GeForce GTX 980? It will have 32GB of memory and a SSD on a Z97 platform.

IMO, save your money and get the MSI Gaming / Gigabyte G1 970. 16-17% performance increase for $200-250 more isn't worth it when 980 is already 8 months old. If you really want the 980, wait 4-5 more weeks to see if R9 390 cards force NV to drop prices, or alternatively buy the faster 390/390X card.

yeah waiting is the best option. you might end up saving USD 150 or even more depending on how good R9 390 and R9 380 series are

Again some people dont see the fact and just post for the sake.

yes it better to wait for Price drop but consider AMD as a option no than i wont be so naive to that because you have to see AAA games benchmark which use Gameworks which have totally worst performance on AMD.

I want to play games and i want to have best experience as possible because i am spending my money not donating or charity.

Nvidia is the best choice at the moment because u dont miss the best performance on games like

The witcher 3 and Batman Arkham knight because they both use Gameworks.

If you are going to criticise others it is best to structure your sentences in a way that is easy to understand. No random capitals in sentences or use of 'or' instead of 'and' etc. That Nvidia is the best choice is your opinion, it is not fact. The OP may wish to purchase the best value for money he can buy within a reasonable time span. He may also wish to purchase an Nividia card no matter what and still decide to wait until the new AMD GPU's come out (if he did not know a new round of cards was coming out) so that he can get better prices. Either way, the suggestions made in the post may have helped him, which your post certainly did not.

I always figured his English is not great. Seemed obvious to me.

Also the "OP may" stuff, nowhere in the OP is there a hint of anything you are saying. He couldn't have been anymore clear and specific. But it looks like the OP just doesn't matter at all.

Fair enough, so simple answer for OP is "yes"? More detailed might be yes, unless you mostly play games from genres such as RTS, in which case get a CPU upgrade first. 32Gb ram should be enough I guess....

I don't recommend the 970 to anyone with the abortion of a memory system it has. They have to do special work in the drivers just to cover up the problems with it. They aren't going to continue to optimize for one specific card down the road, IMO.

The 980 is a real nice card, though. Waiting until 980 ti and 390(X) release should drop the price of the 980. It will also give you a chance to see what these other cards have to offer. We are only talking a very few more weeks now.

I am not suggesting to OP.I am saying to the members that they should carefully suggest or advice when they post. What happens if OP buys AMD GPU but he cannot play most of gameworks game with a good experience. He will have a bad experience with gameworks games and of course he will blame the member who suggested.

You go ahead and perpetuate the Gameworks marketing position. The rest of us will suggest what we feel is best.

You do realize the predominant advice was to "wait for AMD to launch so you can buy the nVidia cheaper," NOT "wait for AMD to launch and just buy AMD"? RS mentioned possibly buying the 390/X as an alternative but that was the extent there.

Yes that is what i am saying.Suggest him with pros and cons explained so that he can know that what he is buying and what are the consequences of the purchase so that later he cannot blame anyone if he is not satisfied with that purchase.

Yes. There is only one person pushing a brand. That's desprado.

Way to derail and ruin another thread with your personal agendas, as always. You're all pathetic.
