I bought an iWill XP4-G SFF for my kids. I also have a Mobile P4 3.06. The default multiplier on the mobile is 12 which means I would have to have a FSB of 255 to get stock speeds. Is this correct and can I do this with my mobo if I get some really good memory? Specs on the mobo are below. I know it not the best to work with here, but I got a very good deal on it for my kids.

Sorry to disappoint you, but mobile p4's are not supported on most motherboards. I would love to try the dothan core, but no motherboard works with it. It's strictly for laptops. Maybe your iwill board supports the 3.06-M, but I doubt it.

The Mobile P4 is different from the Pentium-M. Mobile P4s can be run on some desktop boards.

The multiplier of the p4 mobile is not recognized properly by most desktop boards Pretty sure they all default to 12x multplier.
Likely your board will not get to 255 FSB. The 845 won't even get to 200 FSB in most cases. You have a nice P4-1.6 there (plus whatever FSB your board WILL support). Get some PC3200 and overclock the motherboard as much as you can.

This cpu was pulled out of a desktop. It ran with no problems. I'm not sure whether it was a P4 mobile or a Pentium-M.

I don't think the 845GE will come close to supporting even a 800MHz (200MHz fsb) speeds?
